Congratulations to Emerson Bonter and Jonathan Naylor who have been selected to join the Constituency Youth Council for Hastings-Lennox and Addington. Students from around the riding will work together to learn about the Federal government and topics that matter most to them. Among the topics they've been exploring are affordable housing, Indigenous affairs, and the environment.

Congratulations to Grade 12 student, Moira Wilson, whose essay, “The Devil Wears Pessimism: Society Advancement Within the Past Century” has been selected as the winner of the OSSTF Student Achievement Awards in the “Prose and Poetry” category. The essay will now forwarded for adjudication at the provincial level!
Moira’s essay, which she wrote for the purposes of this contest, discusses the concept of “Grumble Theory” as described by Abraham Maslow. She argues that “Canadians have forgotten the progress made over the past hundred years”.
Good luck to Moira in the next round of judging.
Queen’s University offers a summer enrichment experience for students from Grades 8-12. Students will be participating in challenging and inspiring academics alongside the dynamic an living environment of university life. Through these experiences they will have the opportunity to learn beyond the school classroom with engaging and challenging courses that motivate them to explore and apply new knowledge. Students in Mr. Everhardus' grade 10 Civics class have been working together to uncover their Charter Rights in class. As students disucss and debate they are building knowledge and making sense about how these rights impact their daily lives.
Congratulations to our grade 12 student, Sabeen Asif, who has been selected to participate in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario’s Model Parliament program!
Sabeen will be in Toronto from Feb. 27 – March 1 and representing the riding of Durham. She will be one of just 124 students from across the province to learn about the parliamentary history and the legislative process through workshops and presentations at this program.
